This study aims to describe the process of changing farming among Welala villagers from cashew to clove, as well as the reasons underlying these changes. This study uses the theory of social change with ethnographic methods. The data collection is purposive sampling or taken intentionally. Data analysis is in-depth interview techniques and participant observation that analyze by descriptive qualitative. The results show that there was a change in the farmers' economy which is a positive impact of changes in farming patterns of the local community. Changes in farming patterns are caused by the low price of cashew nuts in the market. In addition, clove plants entering Welala Village generally get a good response from farmers, because, in addition to the much higher selling price, the land in this area is also very suitable for clove plants because they are in the highlands. Despite showing changes in farming patterns, the local community does not necessarily abandon cashew farming activities even if only in relatively small amounts.
