Abstract

Bali Orti is one of the local newspapers published by Bali Post group in Bali. This supplement consists of 4 pages dealing with: culture, traditional ceremony, short-story, poem and short news, lesson of Balinese characters. This article aims at describing how the Balinese Language and Culture are simultaneously preserved. The data for this article was collected from Bali Orti, 4 September, 2016 edition by observation and note-taking. The collected data was then descriptively and qualitatively analyzed. It turns out that the two first pages   have given wider opportunities to appropriately express culture, and traditional ceremony in Balinese language, however the two more pages have used some re-adjusted borrowing from Indonesia and even English lexicons.   This weekly specific publication, moreover gives wider access to prevent the local language from being endangered.

Keywords: endangered, Balinese characters
