This research aims to identify old wells from the Japanese occupation period. To achieve this goal, the study employs a qualitative research method. Data collection was conducted through literature review, interviews, observations, and analysis. The findings indicate that the old well located in Kandai Subdistrict is a remnant from the Japanese occupation during 1942-1945. Surrounding the well, there are other remnants related to Japanese defense efforts, such as bunkers and pillboxes of various sizes situated right in front of the well. Researchers identified three old wells, generally located at the base of hills or mountains. These wells have undergone changes in form due to activities and their use as a clean water source for the residents of Kandai Subdistrict, Kendari City. The old Japanese wells are still utilized by the community, serving hundreds of residents in several neighborhood areas (RT). The uniqueness of these wells lies in their ability to never run dry, even during the dry season, which allowed them to supply water to Japanese soldiers in the past and continues to serve the local population today.
