GENDING RARE SEBAGAI MEDIA PELESTARIAN BAHASA DAERAH

Abstract

Gending Rare or Sekar Rare is classified into oral literature. Some Gending Rare (songs of children) written in Balinese language are analyzed in this article. Gending rare consists of three types they are Dolanan, Jejangeran, and Gending Sangiang. Gending Rare can be regarded as one of the media for preservation of local languages in this case Balinese language. By singing gending rare children can learn and play at the same time so the the local language can be preserved. The data of this article are analyzed using semiotic theory of Roland Barthes and semantic theory of Geoffery Leech. The analysis showed that gendingrare is one of the effective media to preserve Balinese language. And the one which is more important there is moral education in gending which is very useful for the character building.
