Penerjemahan Istilah-Istilah Budaya Dalam Roman Biografi « Qu’Allah Bénisse La France » Karya Abd Al Malik dan “Bulan Sabit Di Atas Eiffel” Karya Stella Melani Ismail

Abstract

The research on the biographical novel “Qu’Allah Bénisse La France” by Abd Al Malik with its translation into Indonesian “Bulan Sabit di Atas Eiffel” is to find out the categories of cultural terms as well as to find out the procedures used by the translator to translate these cultural terms. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. From the results of the data analysis found in this study, there were 57. The data is divided into five categories. 2 cultural terms from the ecology category (3.5%), 31 cultural terms from the material culture category (54%), six cultural terms from the social culture category (10.5%), 12 cultural terms in the organization, activity, and concept category (21%), and six cultural terms from the body movement category (10.5%). Meanwhile, 3 Newmark translation procedures were used to translate these cultural terms: transference, naturalization, and footnotes. For the transference translation procedure, it was used to translate 35 cultural terms, or 61%. The naturalization procedure translated five cultural terms (9%), and the footnote procedure was used for 17 terms or 30%. With this research, it is expected that new research will emerge in translation as a form of reader appreciation for the literary works produced. Furthermore, this research can be interpreted as a link between the source language culture (SL) and the target language (TL).
